

Born in Lynchburg, October 25, 1935, he was the son of James Edward Diuguid and Grace Gilliam Diuguid. He graduated from Madison Heights High School and Lynchburg College with a degree in Physical Education. He was a retired juvenile delinquency officer from Amherst County. Jimmy was an avid baseball fan and he especially loved the Baltimore Orioles where he served as an associate scout for the team. Locally he was best known for his support and contributions to the Madison Heights Dixie Youth Basball Association. He coached and actively supported Dixie Youth baseball for 50 years. In 1998, one of the fields was dedicated and named for Jimmy for his devoted service.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Sonia Beatrice Garcia.
In addition to his wife, survivors include, one son, Bradford Loving Diuguid of Waynesboro; four grandchildren, Trey Corpora, Brenna Lynne Diuguid, Martin Diuguid and Matthew Diuguid; one cousin, Sandra Gilliam Russell; his brother-in-law, Roderick Loving and his wife Alice and their daughter, Elizabeth Loving Consolla, her husband Mark and their children, Jeffrey, Joseph and Jack; a sister-in-law, Judy Dudley and her husband Linnie. Jimmy is also survived by his faithful companion Bailey.
The family would like to recognize and thank Jimmy’s caregivers, Charmayne Bedlow and Wanda Lowe for the loving care and attention they provided.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 12, 2013 at Court Street United Methodist Church with the Rev. Patrick Pillow and the Rev. Earl Clarkson officiating. Interment will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. Thursday, April 11, 2013 at Whitten Monelison Chapel and at other times at the residence.
