James Andrew "Jimmy" Hayslett Sr.

Born June 23, 1936, in Bedford, Co., he was a son of the late Thomas J. Brooks and Mamie Tolley Brooks. He was also preceded in death by a son, James Andrew Hayslett Jr.; his grandson, Joshua Ryan Hayslett; two brothers, Alfred and George Hayslett; and two sisters, Frances Arrington, and Martha Staton.

Mr. Hayslett owned his own business, Hayslett’s Painting, and was a member of Christian Chapel, in Lynchburg. He loved the outdoors, and enjoyed fishing.

Survivors also include a brother, Thomas Calvin Brooks Sr. and wife Joyce, of Monroe; a sister, June Bryant and husband Michael, of Madison Heights, other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends Sunday, September 18, 2011, from 7-8:30 p.m. at Whitten Monelison Chapel.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 19, 2011, at the funeral home, by the Rev. Dr. Thomas Calvin Brooks Sr. Interment will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery.
