

Born September 2, 1951 in Gladys, VA, he was the son of the late Jessie Lee J. Doss, Sr. and Cathleen Pollard Doss. He was also preceded in death by two sons, Jessie Lee J. Doss, III and Brian Christopher Doss; three sisters, Brenda D. Mann, Linda D. Vaughan, and Betty D. Enoch and one brother, Roger Dale Doss.
In addition to his wife, Jessie is survived by two sisters, Barbara Doss Goff and husband Link of Ft. Worth, TX and Wendy Doss Moses and husband Bruce of Altavista, VA and two grandchildren, Trinity Doss and Kaylee Doss. He is also survived by his brothers-in-law, Nelson Evans (Carol) of Rustburg and John Evans (Robin) of Lynchburg and daughter-in-law, Marcy Doss (Andy).
He and his wife would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in January 2024 with plans to celebrate with another visit to Disney World in the fall of 2024. He was a loving husband and his greatest pride was being “Papa” to granddaughters, Trinity and Kaylee.
Jessie graduated from William Campbell High School in 1969 and was a retired shipping supervisor with Flowers Baking Company. He was a retired cattle farmer and had enjoyed spending Saturdays at the local livestock markets.
At an early age his dad had taught him the life skills he would need and made sure both his sons Lee and Brian would know them as well. He enjoyed camping especially at Myrtle Beach and making time for all his “furbabies”.
Special people he considered true friends and family include Leroy Martin, Jimmie Meador, and Wendy Coley; Tim Hise and “Kenna” Bell who he considered his “ adopted son” and “adopted granddaughter”.
He is also survived by several nephews, great nephews, nieces, great nieces, and a
special young man Milan Vass.
Services will be held at a later date, to be announced.
