Born July 18, 1954 in Lynchburg, she was a daughter of the late Homer Davis and Margaret Burks Davis. She was also preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Harold Wood. JoAnn was a retired Human Resources Specialist with Central Virginia Training Center. She was a member of Randolph Memorial Baptist Church.
JoAnn was active in the church at Randolph Memorial. She sang in the choir, worked with the children in activities, and served as a Deacon. She was a dedicated volunteer at the Pearson Cancer Center. Although JoAnn never had children, she loved her nieces and nephews, as though they were her own children.
JoAnn is survived by two brothers, Jim Davis of Amherst and Homer Davis, Jr. and wife Donna of Lynchburg; two sisters, Wanda Riley and husband Skip and Debra Wood, also of Madison Heights; a step-son, Christopher McClure and wife Wendy and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
A funeral service to celebrate JoAnn’s life will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 22, 2022 at Randolph Memorial Baptist Church with The Rev. Dr. Derik Hamby officiating. Interment will follow at Meade Cemetery in Madison Heights.
The family will receive friends, for one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 a.m..
