

Born on August 30, 1958 in Lynchburg, he was the son of the late Clinton Lee Mayberry and the late Gwendolyn Davis Mayberry. John had worked as a welder and enjoyed camping, fishing, and traveling with his wife.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a step-son, Christopher Waechter and a special aunt, Jackie Gilbert.
John is survived by his wife Patricia; step-sons, Daniel Waechter and wife Tracy and Michael Waechter; daughter-in-law, Crystal Waechter; seven step-grandchildren, Phillip Waechter and wife Ashton, Kaylee Waechter, Patrick Waechter, Jacob Waechter, Jesse Waechter, and Lisa Waechter; three step-great grandchildren, Phillip Waechter, Jr., and twins Damien and Ivy Waechter; special cousins, Teresa Watson and Jimmy Lipscomb and wife Brenda; best friends, Sean and Tammy Scannell; and numerous other cousins, other family members, and friends.
Due to the current restrictions on gatherings, a private graveside service will be held on Monday, April 6, 2020 at Fort Hill Memorial Park. The public may stop by the funeral home and sign the register book from 9-5 on Saturday or Sunday. Please note that the funeral home staff will assist in maintaining the 10 person at a time and social distancing guidelines.
