John Wesley Poe, 19, of Amherst passed away Friday, July 27, 2018, at Lynchburg General Hospital. Born August 3, 1998, in Lynchburg, he was the son of Helena Shay Hudson Poe and the late Joseph Wesley Poe.
John was a landscape worker for Lynchburg/Mojo Fencing. He loved to hunt and fish with his dad, and loved his family dearly.
In addition to his father, John was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Vickie A. Sligh; and his paternal grandparents, John Wesley Poe, Sr. and Mildred “Ann” Shoemaker Shelton.
In addition to his mother, John is survived by his sister Kelsey Cheyenne Poe of Bedford; his maternal grandparents, Frank Lewis Hudson, Sr. and Barbara D. Hudson of Lynchburg; and numerous other loving family members and friends.
A funeral service will be conducted 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 7, 2018, at Whitten Monelison Chapel with the Rev. E. Wayne Hudson officiating. Interment will follow at Meade Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
