

Sunset for Joyce W. Sellick occurred in the peaceful stillness of the morning on Sunday, March 16th. She was greeted at her new home by her late husband, David, and parents, the late Dennie and Durfey Wright. Sunrise began in Amherst County on Sunday, August 18, 1935.
She will be greatly missed by her children, Faye Sellick-Howard (Gary), David (Nora), Daniel, Jimi and Kaye, six grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and seven step-great grandchildren. Also, Eddie Delapp, David Allison, Tommy Overstreet and David Johnson who she considered her sons, and her very special friend and caregiver, Priscilla Brooks. She is survived by sisters, Irene Giangualano and Jewell Lipscomb (William), and special brother, Wayne Wright (Kay) all of Madison Heights. She was predeceased by two sisters, Marie Giangualano and Peggy Sprouse, two brothers, Herman and Earl, and daughter-in-law, Linda. Her faithful cat, Angel, stayed by her side during her illness providing love and comfort. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She retired from Ericsson/General Electric after more than 28 years of service. She was a faithful member of Monroe Church of God until her recent illness and loved her church family.
She loved her flowers and took great joy in seeing the fruits of her efforts. She was an excellent cook and many happy memories were created around the table. Her door was always open to anyone who needed a place to stay or a hot meal.
A funeral service will be held at Monroe Church of God on Wednesday, March 19 at 3:00 p.m. with the Rev. James Witten and Rev. Paul Campbell officiating. Interment will be in Briarwood Memorial Gardens. Family visiting will be held at Whitten Monelison Chapel on Tuesday, March 18, from 6 to 8 p.m.

The family extends its heartfelt thanks to Jill Crawford, Roberta West and Robin Ferguson of Hospice, and to Dr. Angela Brady and staff at the Alan B. Pearson Cancer Center for the care and compassion shown to our mother.
