He was born in Washington, DC on August 3, 1941, son of the late Roland Norman Roby and the late Jean Duvall Roby. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Randall Todd Roby.
He was a member of Clifford Baptist Church and was retired from the Central Virginia Training Center. Larry loved to hunt, play music, care for his farm, and do woodworking. He was an accomplished builder having even built his own underground house (Roby’s Cave).
Survivors include his wife, Marie S. Wood; son, Lance T. Roby and wife Gina; daughter, Heather Mae Roby; brother, J. Michael Roby and wife Debbie; sister, Linda R. Huber; two step children, B.D. Wood, Jr. and A.D. Wood and wife Kim; four grandchildren, Brandon Shawn Roby and wife Natalie, Chase Lee Roby, Alauna Roby, and Cooper Mitchell; two step grandchildren, Brooke Cheatham and husband Dimitri and Dillon Wood.
A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, June 25, 2023 at the family home with Rev. Mike Fitzgerald officiating. Lunch will be served following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Clifford Baptist Church, 635 Fletchers Level Road, Amherst, VA 24521.
