Lorine Katherine Kidd

Born on February 25, 1923 in Lynchburg, she was the daughter of the late Floyd Bradshaw Hargis and the late Mary Gertrude Hodnett Hargis. Lorine was an Avon Representative for 40 years. She also drove the school bus for Amherst County and LCA. Lorine was a longtime member of Temple Baptist Church and loved her family.

In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her daughter, Patricia Kidd Stinnett; two grandsons, OC Stinnett and Stephen Kidd Coffey; and two brothers, Glenwood Hargis and James Hargis.

Lorine is survived by her daughter, Sandra Coffey (Andrew); her son, E. W. “Bootsie” Kidd (Valerie); six grandchildren, Linda K. Staton (Bill), Michael A. Coffey (Jennifer), Sharon C. Hale (Patrick Tewksbury), Darlene K. Coffey (John Tucker), Ted W. Coffey (Tiffany), and Morgan Kidd (Chase Powers); 10 great-grandchildren, Allayna Katherine Hale, William Lee “Billy” Hale, Andrea Eridani, W. Eric Staton, Michael A. Coffey, Jr., Whitney Morgan Coffey, Mackenzie L. Coffey, Andrew Wayne Coffey, Archie J. Coffey, and Sophia Powers; two great-great grandchildren, Kaidden Coffey and Thomas Johnson; sister, Frances Jones; and numerous other family members and friends.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Doctors and staff at Centra Hospice and to Fairmont Crossing Foxrun for their kind and loving care of Lorine during her illness.

A funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Thursday, December 20, 2018 at Whitten Monelison Chapel with Pastor J.D. Surbaugh and Pastor Earl Clarkson officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service starting at 1 pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Temple Baptist Church, The Salvation Army or The V Foundation for Cancer Research.
