Born in Lynchburg on July 27, 1927, Louise was the daughter of the late Raymond Doss and Maggie Melrose Doss. While she had a brief career at the C & P Telephone Company, her primary focus was on raising her family with a warmth and dedication that defined her life.
A member of Madison Heights Baptist Church, Louise found joy in service, particularly on the kitchen committee and assisting with Vacation Bible School. Her faith was a guiding force, and her kindness extended to all who crossed her path.
Louise had a passion for flowers, finding delight in both cultivating them and receiving their beauty. Known affectionately as MeMaw, she adored babysitting her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, creating lasting memories with each tender moment.
In addition to her husband, Louise was preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret Morcom and Dorothy Knoll.
She is survived by her son, Ray Morcom, and his wife Suzanne of Lynchburg, and her daughter, Linda Creed of Shawsville. Louise's legacy lives on through her three grandchildren: Niki Shumate, Adam Morcom, and Carrie Nolan, as well as her two great-grandchildren, Cameron Nolan and Jack Nolan and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family would like to gratefully acknowledge the many caregivers who assisted her over the past couple of years.
A service celebrating her life and faith will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 24, 2024 at Madison Heights Baptist Church with Pastor Josh Beeler officiating.
The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service.
Those wishing to make memorial contributions are asked to consider Madison Heights Baptist Church, 329 Main St., Madison Heights, VA 24572.
As we bid farewell to a woman of grace, kindness, and enduring love, let us remember Louise in the vibrant blooms she cherished and the generations she nurtured.
