

Louise Elliott Reed, 85, of Lynchburg, passed away on Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at Medical Care Center. She was the wife of the late Gordon A. (Tony) Reed for 51 years. She was born in Mount Airy, N.C. on April 6, 1929 to the late K.C. and Lola Elliott.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Greer Elliott and Sister-In-Law Carolyn Elliott.
She is survived by two brothers, Henry Elliott and wife Alberta of Hartford, CT and Robert Elliott of Lexington, NC; Sister-In-Law, Mary Kent Elliott and Brother-In-Law, David Reed; four daughters, Kathryn Young and husband Steve of Matthews, NC, Barbara Weatherman and husband Buster of Lynchburg, Julia Reed of Richmond, and Laura Reed of Virginia Beach; six grandchildren, Sarah Faulkenberry and husband Chad, Jacob Young and wife Helen, Michelle Zagorski, Andrea Knoth and husband Chris, Rebecca Agee and husband Jeremy, Erin Dulik; four great-grandchildren, Cayden and Clayre Faulkenberry, Christian Knoth, Katelynn Agee and many other family and friends.
Louise was a member of the 1947 graduating class of Durham High School where she played the clarinet in the marching band. She then attended Duke University’s nursing program for three years until marrying and starting her family. While raising her four daughters she led Girl Scout troops, ran scout camps, and served on the district council. She was an active member of Amelon United Methodist Church where she served as a Lay Pastor, sang in the choir, founded the prayer chain, and participated in many other activities. Through the years she was a mother and grandmother to many. She generously shared her laughter, wisdom, and faith with everyone. All who knew her were enriched by her love.
A celebration of her life will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at Amelon United Methodist Church, led by Rev. John A. Siegle and Rev. Jacqueline E. Tookey. The family will receive visitors at 11am prior to the service. If you would like to visit with the family at other times, they will be available at Rebecca and Jeremy Agee’s residence (288 Oakridge Drive, Madison Heights, VA 24572) on Friday from 4pm-7pm and on Saturday following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to Amelon United Methodist Church at 220 Amelon Expressway, Madison Heights, VA 24572.
