Margaret Smoot Blount

She was born May 23, 1921 in Amherst County. She was the daughter of the late Archie Cleveland Smoot and Mattie Floyd Smoot.

Margaret was preceded in death by her first husband, Walter P. “Bo” Martin, her sisters, Adele Turman and Mildred Smoot and one brother, Edgar Smoot.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughters, Dianne Martin King and her husband Joe of Amherst, and Margaret Martin Gill and her husband Lin of Chester; her son, David A. Martin and his wife Angela of Evington; three step children, Richard W. Blount and his wife Denise, Becky Storey and her husband Ronnie both of Madison Heights and Carol Drumheller and her husband Hal of Holly Springs, NC; Six grandchildren, Jennifer Hochrein, Joseph King, III, Christopher Gill, Annie Cohen, Meg Gill and Rachael Martin; five great grandchildren and a special niece, June T. Wood and nephew, Jack Turman. Her stepfamily also includes eight grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.

A service celebrating her life will be conducted at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at Whitten Monelison Chapel with Pastor Nancy Johnson officiating.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service until 2:00 p.m.

Private graveside services will be conducted at Spring Hill Cemetery.
