Nécrologie de Mary Hamilton Fields
Mary Frances Hamilton Fields Mary Frances Hamilton Fields, 73, went home to be with Jesus on Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at her home in Lynchburg. She was born August 4, 1937 in Oak Hill, WV to the late William Henry and Frances Beard Hamilton. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Anthony Wayne Hamilton of Madison Heights and a sister, Brenda Hamilton Koester of Lynchburg. Mary is survived by her ex-husband, Warren D. (Winkie) Fields, Sr. and wife, Jane of Forest; her son, Warren DuVal (Pete) Fields, Jr. and wife, Barbara (Bobbie) of Naola; two grandsons, Ryan Nicholas Fields of Naola and Cory Nelson Fields of Lynchburg; a great-grandson, Sean Riley Fields of Naola. Her boys all knew her as Nana. She is also survived two brothers, Lewis Nelson Hamilton and wife, Kay of Concord and Mark Allen Hamilton, both of Concord; a brother-in-law, William A. Koester, also of Concord; a sister-in-law, Polly Riley Hamilton of Madison Heights; a few aunts and uncles, including a dear aunt, Evelyn H. Kale Johnson of Stuarts Draft; her namesake niece, Mary Elizabeth Koester of Concord; many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends, including a dear friend, Faye Hipps of Lynchburg. Mary graduated fourth in her class from E.C. Glass High School in 1955. She worked for many years as a secretary and office manager in medical and legal offices. She worked for Dr. Waters and Dr. Dillard, Mr. Ed Feinman, Dr. Holland & Dr. Jonas, and Mr. Bernard Baldwin, Jr. She was a member for many years of the Professional Secretaries Institute and was elected Secretary of the Year in 1977. Mary was a member of Sandusky Baptist Church. She had recently been visiting Pleasant View Baptist Church, when her health allowed. As a mother, nana, sister, aunt...etc...we could not have asked for better. Despite the numerous aches and pains of age, she stayed active until the day she died and always provided for "her boys". Like her mother before her, you never left her house hungry. She will be greatly missed by those who knew her well. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 20, 2010 at Whitten Monelison Chapel with Pastor Mike Brown officiating. Interment will follow in Virginia Memorial Park in Forest. The family will receive friends from 6:30-8:30 p.m., today, November 19, 2010 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, visit a friend or relative you haven't seen in a while, especially one who is shut-in and let them know you care about them. That's something Mary enjoyed doing.
