Mary (Jean) Elizabeth Lloyd Durham Edwards

Mary (Jean) Elizabeth Lloyd Durham Edwards, 84, of Madison Heights passed away Friday, September 16, 2016, at Lynchburg General Hospital. She was the wife of the late Arthur Burton Durham and then the late Rueben Allen Edwards, Sr. Born July 9, 1932, in Lynchburg, she was the daughter of the late Daniel Webster Lloyd and the late Eva Vest Lloyd.

Jean was a homemaker and a member of Leawood Baptist Church. She attended Lynchburg Public Schools.

In addition to both husbands, Jean was preceded in death by four brothers, Daniel Delmont Lloyd, Herman E. Lloyd, Lester Lloyd and Stanley Jake Lloyd; and two sisters, Minnie L. Dalton and Estelle L. Lawhorne

Jean is survived by her daughters, Audrey Olinger of Bedford, Wanda Bailey of Spout Spring, Marty Massie and her husband G.T. of Monroe, Patricia “Tippy” Lucado and her husband Alton of Appomattox and Tracy Hubbard and her husband Mike of Vinton; two sisters, Betty L. Coggsdale and her husband Julian of Richmond and Freda L. Sowers of Rustburg; seventeen grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be conducted 12:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 20, 2016, at Fort Hill Memorial Park Mausoleum with the Rev. Greg Tyree officiating.

There will be no scheduled visitation hours at the funeral home, but friends and family are welcome to visit. The family will also receive friends at the residence of Marty and G.T. Massie as well as after the graveside service.
