

Born July 5, 1933 in Lynchburg, she was the daughter of the late George William Gilley and Virginia McKinley Swanson Gilley. She had been employed many years at Wil-ko Uniform Company and was retired from Aunt Weeda’s Closet retail store. Norma Jean was a longtime member of Madison Heights Baptist Church, being a member of the Keenagers and the Koinonia choir. She also volunteered with Meals on Wheels.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Roland S. Gilley and two sisters, Ruby Gilley Robertson and Shirley Gilley Moon.
Norma Jean is survived by her son, Allen H. Freeman, Jr.; a brother, Don L. Gilley and wife Betty of Salem; sisters-in-law, Mazie F. Carr and Violet F. Banton, both of Madison Heights and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, April 12, 2015 at Madison Heights Baptist Church with Pastor Todd Blake officiating.
