Born in Lynchburg, December 17, 1969 she was the daughter of Franklin “Pete” Horton and Nancy Neblett Horton of Madison Heights. Rhonda dedicated her life to being the moral compass for her husband Doug.
She was absolute in her resolve and deeply influenced Doug’s “people first” mentality. Rhonda sacrificed many years as a military spouse by opening her home to US Warfighters in need of a hot meal. She selflessly gave two decades toward transporting and ensuring the safety of the children in Amherst County to and from school.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is survived by her son, Doug Slusher, Jr and his wife Stacy of Amherst; her daughters, Monique Slusher of Huddleston and Cheyanne Slusher Amherst; two sisters, Dianne Hall and her husband Gary of Monroe and Deborah Scruggs and her husband Dennis of Madison Heights and one granddaughter Isabella.
A service celebrating her life will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Monday, March 25, 2019 at Whitten Monelison Chapel with the Rev. Derik Hamby officiating. Interment will follow in Amherst Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday at Whitten Monelison Chapel.
