Ruby Moore Carter

Born April 14, 1922 in Campbell County, she was the daughter of the late James Henry Moore and Rosa Childress Moore and was also preceded in death by four sisters. Ruby retired from Craddock & Terry Shoe Corporation and was a member of Temple Baptist Church.

She is survived by her son, Frederick Carter of Lynchburg; her daughter-in-law, Susan O. Carter, also of Lynchburg; a brother, Johnny Moore of Madison Heights; two grandsons, Philip O. Carter and wife Jennifer and Brent T. Carter and two great-grandsons, Ian Carter and Neil Carter, all of Raleigh, NC.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00a.m., Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at Whitten Monelison Chapel with Pastor J.D. Surbaugh, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 6:30-8:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at the funeral home.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Ruby’s caretakers, her nieces, Janice Campbell and Barbara Hudson for their care and compassion during Ruby’s illness.
