Born in Lynchburg on August 27, 1950, she was the daughter of the late John Dewey Clements and Helen Cyrus Clements.
Shirley is survived by her loving husband, Troy Proffitt; her two sons, Bobby Robbins (Sandy) and Randy Robbins (Rachel); and six cherished grandchildren: Nicole Floyd (Damian), Justin Wayne Robbins, Kaitlyn Marie Robbins, Colson Levi Robbins, Emily LeeAnne Robbins, and Taylor Nicole Robbins. She also leaves behind two great-grandchildren, Bristol Floyd and Kane Floyd, and one brother, John Dewey “Sonny” Clements, III.
She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Danny Andrew “Squirrel” Robbins.
A dedicated homemaker, Shirley focused her time and efforts on caring for her home, her husband, and raising her three boys. Her favorite people, however, called her Nanny or Naynay. Her grandchildren were her world, and caring for them and watching them grow brought her immense joy and fulfillment.
Shirley will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
The family will receive friends on Monday, July 8, 2024 from 6 to 8 pm at Whitten Monelison Chapel.
Private inurnment will take place at a later date at Fort Hill Memorial Park.
