

West “John” Lynwood Jones, 70, of Madison Heights passed away Tuesday, August 4, 2015, at his residence. Born November 10, 1944, in Lynchburg, he was the son of the late Malon West Jones and the late Ida “Ruby” Virginia Madeline Bryant Jones.
John was a retired welder/mechanic for the Newport News Shipyard and a member of Thomas Road Baptist Church.
John is survived by his two sons, Ricky Lynwood Jones and his wife Deborah of Goode and Michael Wayne Jones and his wife Nichole of Rustburg; three sisters, Brenda Phelps and her husband Ronnie of Lynchburg, Darlene Overstreet of Lynchburg and Nancy McGuire of Lynchburg; special friend, Karin Corwin of Williamsburg; six grandchildren; and numerous niece and nephews.
The family would like to express a special thank you to Dr. Kathleen Paul for her care and service towards John.
A funeral service will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 7, 2015, at Whitten Monelison Chapel with the Rev. David Heerspink officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park in Lynchburg.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10-11 a.m., Friday, August 7, 2015, at the chapel.
