William Allen Austin

William Allen Austin, 78, of Madison Heights passed away Friday, September 29, 2017, at Lynchburg General Hospital. He was the husband of the late Patricia Gresham Austin. Born July 22, 1939, in Amherst County, he was the son of the late Ernest Allen Austin and the late Mary Rutherford Austin. William was a retired charge aide for the Central Virginia Training Center, and he was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He also served our country in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. William is survived by his children, Michael Austin (Paige Wilson) of Lynchburg, Kevin Austin (Judy) of Madison Heights and Patricia A. Metts (Robert) of Concord; three siblings, Donald E. Austin (Betty) of Clifford, Stephen H. Austin (Sheila) of Madison Heights and David K. Austin (Judy) of Lynchburg; twelve grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 4, 2017, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints with Bishop Chris McDaniel officiating. Interment will follow at Briarwood Memorial Gardens in Amherst. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, October 3, 2017, at Whitten Monelison Chapel.
