

William James Montalto, 89, of Lynchburg, died Sunday, September 4, 2011, at Bentley Commons. Twice married, he was the husband of the late Mildred Sincoskie Montalto and the late Muriel Gentry Montalto.
Born in St. Clair, PA, he was the son of the late Anthony P. Montalto and the late Kathryn Gregitis Montalto. In addition to his parents and his two wives, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Helen M. Mengel and Anna Mae M. Wierman.
He was a member of St. Edwards Catholic Church in Richmond and a retired employee of the United States Government. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II and in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose #699 in Richmond and the American Legion Post #594 in Middletown, PA.
He is survived two daughters, Marie M. Jeter and her husband, Michael, of Amherst and Cheryl M. Evans and her husband, Jim Fowler of Round Rock, TX; three grandchildren, Michael Owen, Anthony Owen and Robert Evans and three great grandchildren, Kalub Owen, Seth Owen and Hannah Owen.
The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., Wednesday, September 7, 2011, at Whitten Monelison Chapel.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m., Monday, September 12, 2011 at St. Clair Catholic Cemetery in St. Clair, PA.
