William Henry Powell, 85, of Madison Heights passed away Tuesday, April 21, 2021, at his residence. He was the husband of Sylvia Walker Powell. Born February 25, 1936, in Lynchburg, he was the son of the late Clarence Powell and the late Fannie (Suddith) Powell.
William was a retired mechanic for UPS and a member of Randolph Memorial Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, Williams was preceded in death by two sons, Michael Keith Powell and Patrick Lloyd Powell; two siblings, Russell Powell and Barbara Hankins; one granddaughter, Gabierelle Lovelace; and one great granddaughter, Makaelyn Staples.
In addition to his wife William is survived by two daughters, April Staples (Bruce) of Lynchburg and Melody Powell of Lynchburg; four grandchildren, Brandon Staples, Durand Lovelace, Jasmine Ford and Candice Rennell; four great grandchildren, Zachary Nuggett, Kathryn Nuggett, Breelyn Staples and Bryson Staples; and other loving family members and friends.
A graveside service will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Monday, April 26, 2021, at Meade Cemetery with Dr. Derik Hamby officiating. The family will receive friends 3-5 p.m., Sunday, April 25, 2021, at Whitten Monelison Chapel.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Randolph Memorial Baptist Church or the Monelison Rescue Squad.
