

Born in Amherst County, August 25, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Luther D. Johns and Cammie Branham Johns. She was a retired school bus driver from Bedford County schools after 31 years of service. She was a longtime member of Sedalia Baptist Church where she served in the choir, was a Sunday school teacher and active with Vacation Bible School. Zelda loved all of the children she came in contact with, both on the bus and at church, they were her children. She was also a member of the garden club and a member of the Monacan Nation.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Joe, sister Lacie and her granddaughter Jami.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Melvin “Billy” Putt, Sr.; seven children, Robert Putt and his wife Vicky of Lynchburg, Joy Lang and her husband Ted of Rustburg, Melvin Putt and his wife Julie of Forest, Tim Putt and his wife Kathy of Lynchburg, Debra Crawn and her husband Joe of Goode, Danny Putt and his wife Teresa of Forest and Betty Sue Burley and her husband Dean of Amherst; two brothers, Roy Johns and Jimmy Johns both of Amherst; 13 grandchildren, Ashley, Chelsey, Heather, Matthew, Lindsey, Brandon, Jon, Cammie, Daniel, Cameron, Hannah, Samantha and Amanda and 12 great grandchildren.
A celebration of her home going will be held on her birthday, Thursday, August 25, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. at Sedalia Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Robert A. Putt and Pastor Mike Jones officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service from 1 to 3 p.m.
The family would also like to gratefully acknowledge her caregivers, Robin, Bethany, Kim and Tina for the wonderful and loving care and attention they provided.
