Debra Gay (Dawson) Sams, 65, of Charleston, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 11, 2016. She was born December 26, 1950 to the late Frank and Mary Dawson. Along with her parents, she is also preceded in death by her son, Dana Norfolk.
Debra is survived by her husband of 21 years, Jerry Sams; daughter Jenny (Norfolk) Miller; son, Nathan Norfolk; step-daughters, Marsha Lesher and Mandy Sams; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandson; step-mother, Ruth Dawson; and sisters, Sherri Edwards, Carol King and Regina Carr.
Debra was a graduate of West Virginia State University with a Masters Degree in Bacholer’s Science and Accounting. She was a lifelong member of Diamond Baptist Church.
Family and friends will gather for a memorial service that will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 18, 2016, at Diamond Baptist Church, 207 Ferry Street, with Pastor Rick Pursley officiating.
