

Maxine Laura Stevens, 91, of Thomson, Georgia, formerly of Campbells Creek, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, August 26, 2016, at the home of her daughter Sue in Thomson. Maxine was born at Quick on October 4, 1924 to the late John Wesley and Maude Norman Young. She was a 53 year member of Point Lick Gospel Tabernacle, Campbells Creek and a current member of the Bethel Baptist Church in Thomson. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Stevens; sisters, Opal Stevens, Frances Elswick, Ernestine Stevens and Irma Skiles; and brothers, Harold and Roger Young. Maxine is survived by her children, Sue (Leon) Rumbaugh of Thomson; son, David (Joyce) Stevens of Thomson; sisters, June Sizemore of Malden and Sandy Combs of Charleston; brothers, Rev. John Young of Charleston, Raven Young of Shrewsbury and Jerry Young of Hugheston; six grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. The funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday August 31, 2016, at Stevens & Grass Funeral Home, Malden, with Pastor Tim Ferrell and Pastor Larry Campbell officiating. The burial will follow the service at Mt. Lewis Cemetery, Ward. A visitation will be held two hours prior to the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
