Sylvia J. Smith, 89, of Marmet, passed away on Tuesday, March 24, 2015. Sylvia was born on May 13, 1925, to the late Thomas and Mattie Dawson Snodgrass. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse J. Smith. She is survived by her sons, James E. (Nan) Smith of Norcross, Georgia and Larry A. (Sue) Smith of Culloden; sister, Mildred Peale of Jacksonville, Florida; brother, Frank Snodgrass of New Port News, Virginia; grandchildren, Michelle Weatherholt of Milton, Bethany Wirtanen of Buford, Georgia and Allen Smith of Lexington, Virginia; and seven great-grandchildren. The funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m.. Friday, March 27, 2015, at Stevens & Grass Funeral Home, Malden, with H.R.. Whittington as Celebrant. Entombment will follow the service in Grandview Memorial Park, Dunbar. A visitation with family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home.
