

Thomas Franklin Stamper Sr., 82, of Malden, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 22, 2016. Born June 14, 1934 in Putney, WV, and was a son of the late Edward and Gladys Stamper of Malden. He was a Christian and attended Georges Creek Baptist Church for over 50 years, where he served as Deacon and Sunday School Superintendent. He was a barber and owner of Tom’s Barber Shop in Malden for over 52 years. Tom was a U. S. Marine veteran. Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Bailey of Malden and Rosemary Garten of Cleveland, Ohio; brother, Robert “Bob” Stamper of Maryland; sister-in-law, Valerie Stamper of Maryland; nephew, Jay Stamper of Maryland; sister-in-law, Marilyn Stamper of Scott Depot; and niece, Melissa Stamper of Scott Depot. Tom is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Barbara (Gillenwater) Stamper; sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas F. Stamper Jr. and Tina, Timothy Stamper and Heather, all of Scott Depot; five grandchildren, Madison Stamper, Brandon Stamper, Payton Stamper, Jackson Stamper and Cameron Stamper; one brother, Edward Stamper Jr. of Scott Depot; brother-in-law, Rev. Keith Bailey of Georges Drive; brother-in-law, Kenneth “Kenny” Gillenwater and Judy of St. Albans; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Harry Wood, Jackie and Billie Wood and Pauline Walker. The funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 27, at Stevens & Grass Funeral Home, Malden with the Rev. Lyle Young and the Rev. Ed Jarrett officiating. The burial will follow the service at Woods Family Cemetery, St. Albans. Family and friends will gather for the visitation on Monday, September 26, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The family would like to thank Dr. Scott Moore, family doctor and friend, for all his compassion and also special thanks to all of Tom’s regular doctors, Hospice and Health Care for their care and compassion.
