A beloved widow, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend, Dorrie was born in Cainta, Rizal Philippines, graduated from Far Eastern University in Manila, married Benjamin Cruz at Cainta’s Our Lady of Light Parish, and immigrated to NJ in 1973 during Philippine Martial Law.
A devout Catholic, Dorrie was a parishioner of St. Joseph the Carpenter Church in Roselle for over three decades. By profession, she was an accountant and obtained her real estate license. She loved playing mahjong, family and church trips to Atlantic City, watching sports and yelling at the TV, and traveling around the world. She loved to dress for any occasion, often in her favorite signature red color with matching jewelry, shoes, and handbag. Above all, Dorrie will be remembered for her generosity, caring nature, joy for life, commitment to faith and family, and her infectious laugh.
Dorrie is survived by her children, Bernadette Cruz, Allan Cruz and wife Victoria, Maria T. Wilantewicz and husband Henry; grandchildren John Alcoriza and wife Amanda, Henry IV, Elijah, Greyson; her great grandchildren Leighton and Everleigh; her siblings and expansive family.
