

Edmund was born in Jersey City, NJ and raised in West New York, NJ. Upon graduation at 18 years old, he started working for AT&T as a pole climber and telephone installer. He went on to work for the Telephone Construction and Maintenance Line Department at AT&T, and ended his career as a second level manager overseeing over 100 employees in the Management Test Bureau of the repair department in Vineland, NJ, for what was Bell Atlantic, formerly New Jersey Bell. He retired in 1995.
At 18 years old, Edmund joined the NJ National Guard stationed out of Dumont, NJ. He served for 9 years and was promoted to Sergeant E4 as the youngest to do so in the State’s history at that time.
While working at what is today, Verizon, Edmund met the love of his life, Lisel and they have been loving each other for the past 35 years.
Edmund is survived by his beloved wife Lisel, his daughter, Kathleen Fantry and his grandchildren, Thomas and Nicholas Fantry, Amanda Savad and Eric Savad Fantry and predeceased by his sons, Thomas Michael Fantry, the father of Thomas and Nicholas, and Edmund T Fantry III.
Edmund enjoyed fishing, boating and creating intricate model boats. He was artistic and enjoyed painting. He was quite talented in both interests.
Ed carried a saying in his wallet which reflects what he carried in this heart. “Each day of my life, I will aim to bring a smile to a face that has lost its gleam and provide a purpose of life to those who have lost their vision.”
