

Florentino “Tino” Hernandez, born on October 27,1932, passed away on Saturday July 4, 2015. He was was born in the Dominican Republic where he spent his childhood. He moved to the United States as an adult and raised his family there.
He worked for the Gouverneur Hospital in New York in Mail and Records Department until retirement. In his free time he enjoyed playing baseball, running, and making sangria. He was a loyal New York Yankees and Giants fan.
He enjoyed traveling with his wife Millie and frends and had opportunities to see many different countries. One of his greatest passions was playing softball. He was a member of NJ senior citizens Olympic softball team that won the gold medal in 2009.
He is survived by his wife Milagros (Pena) Hernandez, his sister Justina Hernandez, his daughter Nancy Hernandez, son Rodis (Kira) Hernandez, his grandchildren Vanessa and Joshua Hernandez. He also has many cousins, nieces and nephews surviving him both in the Dominican Republic and the United States.
Calling hours will be on Tuesday, July 7, 2015 from 10:00am-1:00pm followed by a funeral home service at 1:00pm at the Thos L. Shinn Funeral Home, 10 Hilliard Dr. Manahawkin, NJ. Interment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, Manahawkin, NJ.
