Part-time residents since 1968, Summers at the shore were filled with fishing and clamming, long days on the beach, and evenings watching the sun set over the bay. Frank was also deeply involved in the Barnegat Light Yacht Club, where he served as both Commodore and Trustee.

Together they raised four children: Rosemary Shuler (husband Daniel Schranghamer) of Loyalsock Township, PA; Frank Shuler (wife Helen Roberts) of Cranford, NJ; Julie Shuler (husband Jason MacNair) of Brooklyn, NY; and Maggie Depenbrock (husband John) of Princeton, NJ.
