He is survived by his life partner Elizabeth Kurz and her family, including his cherished “granddaughter”, his sister Susan O’Hoppe, his niece Lorraine, and his three great-nieces.
Known to many as Fitz, he enjoyed traveling the world in search of the perfect wave with his friends and family. In addition to surfing, he was a passionate bicyclist and enjoyed swimming in the bay. In his spare time, Fitz was an avid reader.
Jim was the original owner of Handmade Furniture, in West Creek, NJ, for many years. His specialty was custom-made furniture.
