Janice "Jill" E. Sost

Manahawkin, NJ

Jill Sost, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 13, 2020 in her home at the age of 72.

Born in Philadelphia, PA, she grew up in Philadelphia, resided in Tabernacle for 20 years and the last 15 years in Manahawkin. She was a graduate of Abraham Lincoln High School in 1965. Jill graduated from West Chester University in 1969 and earned her Master’s Degree from Trenton State College in 1972. Jill taught Kindergarten early in her career, and after staying home with her daughters, returned to education and worked at Shawnee High Scholl, where she taught Mathematics for 20 years.

After retiring from education, Jill enjoyed traveling with her family, completing her Games Magazines and cheering on her Philadelphia Eagles. When Jill was not traveling, she was often found on the sideline of her grandchildren’s sporting events, as their #1 fan.

Jill is predeceased by her beloved husband, Rick in 2009; daughter Natalie in 1978; her father Robert Luke in 1989; her mother Anne Luke in 2009; her sister Patricia Belz in 2011; and her brother-in-law, Larry in 2007. She is survived by her two daughters, Stephanie Bush and her husband Matt of Barnegat; Gretchen Short and her husband Russell of Manahawkin; her four grandchildren, Ryan and Luke Bush, Rachel and Jonah Short; her sister-in-law Jane Sost of Lambertville, her nephews Johnny and Robert (and families) and her nieces, Amy, Lauren and Stacy (and families.)

Relatives and friends may call on Thursday, September 17, 2020 from 4:00pm-7:00pm and again on Friday, September 18, 2020 from 10:00am-11:00am with the funeral home service to start at 11:00am at the Thos L. Shinn Funeral Home, 10 Hilliard Dr., Manahawkin, NJ.

A private cremation will follow with disposition at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia to support the children’s fund.
