John Carhart

He is survived by his beloved wife Betty (Ritter) Carhart, his two loving daughters, Sara Carpini and her husband Carmen and Rebecca Thompson and her husband Jay, and his cherished grandchildren, Kevin Carhart, Carmine Carpini, Carly Carpini, Lori D’Aleo and Keanu Chung. He is also survived by his brother William, sister Margaret, his sister-in-law and brother-in-law Barbara and Bob Pentland as well as his nieces and nephews.

He was a graduate of Drake University earning his bachelor’s degree in Education. He attended Elim Bible Institute in Lima, New York and upon graduating he became an ordained Pastor in 1985.

In 1990, he became Pastor of Lacey Christian Assembly Church in Forked River, NJ.

John was a history buff, he enjoyed walking in the woods with his grandchildren and turning the walks into adventures for them. He enjoyed telling stories of when he and Betty traveled to Germany to be with family. Most important, though, were the lives that he brought to the Lord. He loved the Lord; he loved his family and he loved his parishioners. He was lovingly known as “the General” in the Army of the Lord.

His family and friends take heart knowing that “Absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.”

He will be missed greatly by all who loved him.

With the present circumstances, a celebration of life service will be held at a later date.
