Beloved husband of Catherine (Kaye) Jaskiewicz. Loving father to Joseph (deceased), Michael and Christine. Dear brother of Helen Bambis. Devoted to his extended family of in-laws, nieces, nephews, and grand nieces and nephews. Joe is predeceased by son Joseph, parents George and Helen, brother Larry and George, and sister Ann Ryan.
After retiring from NYPD, Joe went on to be employed by New York Life Insurance Company as an armed chauffeur. Joe owned and managed the Bay Cliff Luncheonette, the Food Court in Bowling on the Green, and the food concession in Great Kills Swim Club in Staten Island, New York.
Joe coached a NYPD basketball team in Madison Square Garden, New York City, and a Pee Wee football team in Staten Island, New York.
Joe, along with his wife Kaye started a support group for Parents of Children with Cancer.
After relocating to Barnegat, New Jersey, he became active at the Mirage 55+ Community. Joe continued to enjoy lifelong interests while becoming involved with the Golf and Bowling Clubs, and was an active member of the NYPD Jersey Shore 10-13 Club.
He was a parishioner of St. Marys Church in Barnegat, NJ.
He was devoted to his wife Kaye of 58 years and their children. They were the focus of his life. He loved spending time with family and friends, cooking, cruising, gardening, and his beloved METS! Joe worked hard his whole life and never complained.
Simply stated, Joe loved people. He was always willing to help without hesitation. Especially when never asked, always quietly from the sidelines. He will be sorely missed and remembered simply as “Big Joe”!
A Memorial Mass will be held 11:00am on June 24, 2025 at St. Mary's Church, W. Bay Ave., Barnegat, NJ 08005.
