

Julia Elmowsky, 89 yrs old passed away at her home in Manahawkin NJ on July 1st, 2022 after a long illness.
She was born on June 16th 1933 in New York City, New York to Lucille Montano and Joseph Novotny, and graduated from Walton High School in the Bronx.
Julia grew up in St Marys Park in the Bronx on 149th St, where she met Paul Elmowsky Sr and later married in 1951. In 1960 they moved to Rockland County New York, where they lived for more than 61 years. They enjoyed summers on Long Beach Island, NJ since 1968, later purchasing a home in 1976. After Paul, her husband of 65 years, passed away Julia moved to Manahawkin, NJ to be close to her younger sister Lucille and her Ship Bottom home. Julia is loved and remembered for her cooking and feeding people in all the neighborhoods she lived and had been known to send food to your front door, or yell to “come and get it” in Ship Bottom…whether it be fresh fish, potato pancakes or Hungarian potatoes or cookies! ….she loved to share her cooking with everyone. Holidays over the years usually involved feeding 35 or more family members.
She is pre-deceased by her husband Paul Sr, son, Peter, Son-in-law, Robert Arminio, parents Lucille and Joseph Novotny, brother, Joseph (Sonny) Novotny, Cousin Irene, beloved friend Michael D'Agostino and numerous dear friends. She is survived by her Daughter, Donna Jean Arminio and her beloved pride and joy grandchildren, Austin and Ali, her sisters Virginia Centra and Lucille Gillespie and brother-in-law Joe, lifelong dear friends Maureen and Bob Collins and their Children, Joanne D’Agostino and her children and many cousins, nieces, nephews and beloved Friends.
Julia will be cremated and put in her final resting place at Ascension Cemetery in Rockland County New York later this fall.
