Robert passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Thursday, July 7th, 2022 in his home of fifty years.
He is survived by his beloved wife; Josephine Besser, his four devoted daughters; Rosemary Smekal and her husband Richard, Victoria Besser, Deborah Pignataro and her husband Mark and Jodi Chiarello and her husband Richard. He is also survived by his seven cherished grandchildren; Thomas and Daniel Bonanno, John and Jason Hofmann, Frank, Eric and Jessica Chiarello, as well as his four precious great-grandchildren.
Robert spent most of his earlier days at Ronnie’s Snack Bar where he found the love of his life of sixty-three years; Josephine, and married her that following year.
Robert and Josephine enjoyed their life together, as well as the life they created with their daughters.
Robert was a hardworking and dedicated man with many talents. He took pride in his work as a Master Tool and Dye Maker, as well as co-owner of Bestamo Tile and Marble. Robert valued the time he spent teaching his grandsons his expertise, while having them by his side during a hard day at work. Robert was best known for building beautiful things with his hands, although he was most proud of building his loving family.
His loved ones will remember him for his larger than life personality, quick wit, humor, strength, loyalty, carpentry, delicious malteds, impeccable Super Nintendo skills and the over abundance of love he had for his family- all while wearing a flannel and work boots.
Robert was fluent in Italian and enjoyed listening to Italian music daily. His family adored his beautiful singing voice, and will replay the memories of him singing in their minds forever.
Robert’s grandchildren were the light of his life and he was filled with extra love for them. He would attend as many of their special events as possible, as well as taking his granddaughter to her dance classes.
Not only did Robert make everyday wonderful, but his holiday spirit and overuse of tinsel will continue to be a family staple.
The time he spent making his family laugh and smile was extra special to him, as well as to his family. He will be missed by all.
