
Samuel Paresi, 87, of Manahawkin, passed away at home surrounded by his loving wife and friends on Friday, August 30, 2013. He was born in New Brighton, Staten Island. Samuel worked for the New York Transit Authority as a bus driver on Staten Island for 31 years and then went on to work with United Cerebral Palsy on Staten Island. He relocated to the New Jersey Manahawkin area in 1989.
His favorite pastimes were golfing, dancing and singing. He was also an avid NY Yankees fan and enjoyed watching the game beside his wife. He was a former president of the Manahawkin AARP in Stafford Township. He was affectionately known as Poppy to his children and grandchildren, but was a father to all. He will always be remembered for his loving and caring devotion to his wife and family.
He was married to his beautiful wife of 64 years, Rita Paresi. He was predeceased by a brother Allen Paresi, and Pat Parese, and a sister Josephine Stapleton.
He leaves to mourn his passing a brother, Charles Paresi and sister Helen Valentino, a brother in law and sister in law Rocco and Rose Scarlotta, two children his son Ron, his spouse Stefana and Frances, his daughter and spouse Gerard, four grandchildren, John, Jessica, Emily and Sara.
The family would like to take this opportunity to extend their sincere appreciation for the many kind expressions of sympathy in word and deed during his illness and now in their time of sorrow. Your kindness will never be forgotten. Family and friends are invited to attend a viewing on Wednesday September 4, 2013 at Thos. L. Shinn Funeral Home, 10 Hilliard Drive, Manahawkin, NJ , during the hours of 9 am until 11 am. A celebratory mass will directly follow at St. Mary’s Parish in Barnaget at 11:30 am.
