April 30th, 1934 - December 1st, 2024
Gerald Brody, age 90, of Jackson, New Jersey passed away on Sunday, December 1st.
Born and raised in Brooklyn, he resided for many years there and in Valley Stream on Long Island before moving to Jackson 19 years ago. As he used to say, “I left my heart in Brooklyn, the rest of me ended up in New Jersey.” He also spent many summers at a lakehouse near Millerton in Dutchess County, NY where he enjoyed many a relaxing day in the country.
Gerald was an army veteran and also worked in the New York State Department of Labor for over thirty years. He managed to be retired for longer than he worked. He loved to play paddleball and pickleball, tell jokes, read, do crossword puzzles, listen to old-time country music, and hunt for great bargains. He was a big fan of the Brooklyn Dodgers and eventually became a big Mets and Jets fan too.
Gerald is survived by his wife of 44 years Claire, his son Stephen, his daughter Melisa and her husband Ronald Moses, his son Daniel and his wife Yadira Rodriguez; and his grandchildren Alexander, Julie, and Jackie Moses, Oliver Brody, and Rheya and Thiago Brody Rodriguez.
Funeral services will be held at Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Chapels (44 Wilson Ave. Manalapan, NJ) on Thursday, December 5th at 9am. His burial service will be held at Calverton National Cemetery (210 Princeton Boulevard Calverton, NY) on December 5th at 1:30pm.
