

She is predeceased by her loving husband of 60 years, Howard Abel, as well as her daughter Caryn and her sister Audrey.
She is survived by her son Robert, his wife Lisa and her grandchildren, Isabelle and Sam, all of whom she loved and adored.
Harriet was born to Sam and Eva Goldberg and was raised amongst a large, close-knit family in Brooklyn, New York. She married Howard Abel in 1956. In 1972, they moved their family to New Jersey and lived in Marlboro and Manalapan since. For almost 20 years, Harriet worked as a teacher’s assistant at the Solomon Schechter School in Marlboro.
Harriet was a wonderful and kind person and also very strong and wise. She was a loving wife and mother and lived for her family. She also had so many incredible friends who she treasured.
Harriet was dedicated to her parents and her sister and dearly loved her extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins nieces and nephews. She loved to play cards and Mah Jongg. She was a great cook and took great pleasure in entertaining her friends and family.
She will be missed every day.
A funeral service will be held at Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Chapels, located at 44 Wilson Avenue, Manalapan, NJ 07726, on December 29, 2025, at 11:00 am.
Entombment will follow at Beth Israel Cemetery, 1098 Woodbridge Center Dr, Woodbridge Township, NJ 07095.
