Born in Brooklyn, New York, she met the love of her life, Stanley Sardoff, at Abraham Lincoln High School. When he noticed her in the halls, her heart went pit-a-pat! Marlene and Stanley married after he returned from his Navy service in 1955. They resided and raised their family in East Meadow, Long Island before retiring in Monroe Township, New Jersey.
Marlene loved nothing more than her children and grandchildren. After that, her love was to write—she even wrote her friend’s compositions in high school! A published novelist with an acerbic wit, her novel A Love to Kill For was a trenchant and satirical romp through a New Jersey gated community.
Marlene was predeceased by her beloved Stanley (not remarrying explaining “why should I settle for hamburger when I’ve had steak!”), and her sisters Mildred Perlow and Helen Gould.
Surviving are her daughters Barrie Roman and her husband Henry Richardson, Karen Sardoff and her husband Mark Oppenheim, and her son Darren and his wife Lori, her grandchildren Miranda Roman, Taylor Korpal and her husband Sean, Maia Roman, Olivia Sardoff and Jadyn Sardoff.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday, April 1st at 11 am at Mt. Sinai Cemetery, 374 Rt 79, Marlboro, NJ. Family and friends should arrive an 1/2 hour prior to service time.
