Murray Lipman

Murray Lipman, age 81, passed away on October 20, 2021. He is survived by his sons Brian (Sofia) and Eric Lipman, and their mother Ruth Lipman, and his grandchildren, Maya, Joshua, and Noah. He is also survived by his brother Harold (Estelle). Murray is pre-deceased by his long-time partner, Maureen Campbell and her daughter, Joan. He is survived by Maureen’s family - grandson Steven Meltreder, son Douglas Campbell, and brother Joseph Convey.

Murray was born in Brooklyn, NY on July 8, 1940 to Mollie (Epstein) and Jack Lipman. He grew up in Brooklyn and Monticello, NY. He attended City College of New York for two years. Murray is a veteran who served in the military by working on tanks. After his service, Murray worked with his father in the auto wrecking business. He then opened his own auto-wrecking yard in Brooklyn, and in the late 1970s moved the business to Manalapan, New Jersey.

He continued to work in Monroe, New Jersey for the last thirty years. Murray was passionate about cars - tinkering with them, buying them, and talking about them all of his life. He enjoyed going to yard sales with his brother and other friends on the weekends, and taking his son Eric to the flea market at Columbus. Murray enjoyed taking long drives to Monticello and other locations in one of the many cars that he worked on over the years.

He was a good friend to many people, and was loved by friends and family. He was proud of the accomplishments of his sons and grandchildren.

Murray will be terribly missed by his family and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, October 24, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. at Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Chapels, 44 Wilson Avenue, Manalapan, New Jersey 07726. There will be a light reception immediately following the service. Shiva will be announced shortly.
