He attended New Utrect High School in Brooklyn and then studied fashion design at F.I.T. in New York.
Norman was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Vietnam War.
He enjoyed a long career built around his love of sports. First, manufacturing sports accessories utilizing his design skills and creativity. Then, he was a sales rep for several major sports apparel companies. Finally, he opened two successful retail sports stores: Athletes Outlet Store in Freehold, New Jersey and then the Stadium Shop in Newark, New Jersey.
Mr. Leventhal was preceded in death by his sister Karen Sauler.
Norman is survived by his loving wife Maxine of 50 years; daughter Alison Hender and her husband Patrick; daughter Lara Leventhal; and granddaughter Kaylee Hender.
A graveside service will be held Monday, March 8, 2021 at 1:30 PM at Union Field Cemetery, Cypress Avenue, Ridgewood, New York 11385 immediately followed by a burial. Please be aware that the cemetery has closed their public restrooms and ask that masks be worn and social distancing be practiced.
