Born in Brooklyn, NY, the first of the three sons of Sara and Max Modell: himself, the late Michael Modell, and Edward Modell.
He and his beloved wife, Rita, moved from Brooklyn to Long Island, where they raised their family, before moving to Monroe Township more than 20 years ago. He was a pharmacist who became a life insurance broker and managed a general life insurance agency.
Robert is survived by his wife of 70 years, Rita Modell, his daughter Nancy Haimi-Cohen and her husband Raziel, his son David Modell and his wife Karen, his brother Edward G. Modell, and his grandchildren, Vardit Samuels and her husband Richard, Aviad Haimi-Cohen and his wife Annette, Jessa Modell, and Kayli Modell.
His kind heart, generosity, great sense of humor, and willingness to help anyone in need touched the lives of so many people who had the good fortune to know and love him.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday May 21, 2024 at 11 AM at Temple Shaari Emeth, 400 Craig Road, Manalapan, NJ. Burial will follow at B’nai Abraham Memorial Park, 2000 Route 22 East, Union, NJ.
Shiva will be held at the Modell residence: 10 White Hall Rd, Monroe Township.
