It is hard to believe that 3 years have passed since we lost Steve. I was fortunate to have been Steve's friend for over 25 years. A remarkable human being who touched so many lives. I often think of Steve and remember how much fun we had at our monthly Poker games. He left us way too soon, but has left us all with wonderful thoughts and memories. Rest in peace my friend! Jeff

				My Friend Steve Strauss
They said Steve was a jokester, but I say it isn’t so,
I can’t remember one joke from the Steve that I know.
The person I’ll remember will never make me grieve,
As I have fond and fun memories of my good friend Steve.
In Rolling Hills we started a poker game, with the stakes a nickel and dime,
With Steve, Marty, Al, Harry, George and Joe just having a good time.
Steve loved to play poker and introduced a few new games,
One of them Acey-Ducy, which caused many of us pain.
Steve often talked about the Yankees and the Stock Market too,
And places he and Jessie went on vacation, and what did they do.
Going on Cruises seemed to be one of his main passions,
And as long as I knew Steve, he was no slave to fashion.
Not into playing sports or an athlete as far as I knew,
But Steve was a very good man, friend, husband and Jew.
I will miss him and think of him often, especially when I pray,
Hoping we’ll be playing poker again, together someday!

I knew Steve from Rolling Hills, SI, NY. I always found Steve to be pleasant and friendly. He was one of the original Poker players in a game we started 35 years ago. Steve, Marty, Harry, Al, George and Joe were the original players of our once a month game. Our poker game lasted over 25 years, even after most of us moved to NJ. Harry, & Al passed away years ago, and now my friend Steve has joined them. I hope that there is a good poker game in heaven he can join. I will miss you Steve but will smile at the many wonderful memories I have of you. RIP. Jeff Hamel
