Susan Jane Shenton

Susan Jane Shenton, 76, a resident of Aberdeen Township, New Jersey, peacefully passed away on Friday, November 10, 2023, at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, NJ, surrounded by her loving family. Born in the Bronx, NY, Susan lived in Bronx, Manhattan, and Queens, NY, before settling in Aberdeen.

A graduate of Hunter College with a Bachelor’s of Science degree, Susan had a diverse career, working for ConEd and Continental Insurance Co. before serving as a systems analyst at AIG.

A seasoned world traveler, Susan's daily routine included tackling crosswords and puzzles, and she delighted in playing Rummikub with friends. Her love for mystery and science fiction novels, coupled with her avid fandom of Doctor Who and Star Trek, showcased her vibrant spirit. Influenced by her aunt, Susan passed on her cherished tradition of enjoying Broadway musicals to her daughters. Beyond her personal interests, Susan ardently advocated for equal rights and autonomous freedom.

Survived by her husband, William Shenton; daughters Joanne Kelsey (Andrew) and Elana Houde (Carl); brother David; granddaughter Hannah Kelsey; grandson William Kelsey; and her beloved nieces and nephews, Susan's enduring legacy lies in the cherished moments spent with her family.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 13, 2023, at 1:00 PM at Mt. Sinai Cemetery, Marlboro, NJ, at the mausoleum, with entombment to follow directly.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Susan's honor can be directed to Women’s American ORT, an organization she proudly supported throughout her life. Susan will be dearly missed, but her impact and memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
