
Alice Arvanitis, 87, of Manchester, passed away, Sunday March 23rd at Villa Crest Nursing Home in Manchester after a brief illness. She was born in Dover, NH on March 20, 1927, daughter of the late George and Marie (Martel) Kremidas. Alice was the wife of the late George Arvanitis, who died in 1978. She was a longtime resident of the Queen City. She was a home maker and was previously employed at the Manchester Knitting Mills and Shop N’ Save. Alice enjoyed being involved with her children and grandchildren. Watching ‘Dancing With The Stars,’ the ‘Miss America Pageant,’ and New England Sports were some of her favorite pastimes. She also enjoyed shopping and working outside in her yard. She was very proud of the success that her sons achieved; Daniel with Golf, and James with Pankration.
She is survived by two sons: Daniel Arvanitis of Manchester, NH, and James Arvanitis and his wife Chrysti of Parrish, FL; four grandchildren: Kate LaChapelle and her husband Alan of Danville, NH, Matthew Arvanitis and his wife Jessica of Hooksett, NH, Bryson Arvanitis of Apollo Beach, FL, and Brandon Arvanitis of Parrish, FL; one sister: Helen Hicks of Manchester, NH; one sister in law: Jan Kremidas of S. Windsor, CT; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers: Louis, Paul, Hank, and Ernest. The family wishes to express its deep appreciation for the kind caring of Alice by Dr. Gottfredsen and her staff, the Elliot Visiting Nursing Association, and the staff at Villa Crest Nursing Home.
A visitation was held Thursday March 27th from 10:30 to 11:30 in the McHugh Funeral Home, 283 Hanover St., corner of Beech St. The funeral ceremony followed at 11:30 am in the Funeral Home. Rev. Douglas Rickard officiated. Burial was in the family lot in Pine Grove Cemetery.
