

Armand was born in Manchester on July 29, 1927, the middle child of Ida (Lacombe) and Felix J. Boisvert, and resided on the West Side of Manchester until age 6 when the family moved to East Manchester. Armand graduated from St. Augustin School and then attended Central High School until he enlisted in his junior year in the U.S. Navy in 1944. Armand was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy on July 3, 1946 and returned to Central High School where he rejoined the varsity football team. He completed his high school education and received his diploma from New England College in Henniker, New Hampshire in 1947.
Armand married Veronica (Vern) Vassar on April 22, 1950 and they celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary in 2019.
Armand was employed as a truck driver and a meat cutter for Swift and Co. and then became a salesman for Frosted Foods in 1951 until 1955 when he began a long career with Sealtest Ice Cream. In 1972 he formed his own ice cream distribution company called Jersey Ice Cream. He was among the first to distribute Ben & Jerry’s ice cream. He sold Jersey Ice Cream in 1986. In 1990 he joined Associated Grocers of New England as a consultant and remained there until his retirement in 1996. After retirement, Armand joined the staff of McHugh Funeral home in 2008 and worked there until 2022.
Armand moved his family to Bedford in 1972 and has lived there ever since, a total of 51 years. He belonged to Saint Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church where he served at Mass as a Collector for many years. He was Vice President and then President of the original Seton Club; a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council 12988; President of the Kiwanis Club 1982-1983, and then again in 1985; was a member of the Ultra Violette Golf Classics (a scholarship fundraiser) for over eight years; delivered Meals on Wheels for several years; was a member of the Manchester Country Club; and after retirement a member of the Intervale Country Club. Armand was also a member of the American Legion Henry J. Sweeney Post No. 2 for 51 years.
Armand enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating, gardening and playing cribbage. His greatest happiness was being surrounded by members of his large and close knit family and his many friends.
He was predeceased by Veronica (Vern) Vassar, his wife of 69 years, their premature son Gregory Michael; his parents Felix and Ida; his brother Benoit J. Boisvert and sister-in-law Irene (Bergeron) Boisvert; his sister Jeanne (Boisvert) Beauparlant and brother-in-law Dave Beauparlant; his sister Jacqueline (Boisvert) Lawrence and his brother-in-law Russell Lawrence; his sister Beatrice (Boisvert) Gosselin and his brother in law Robert Gosselin, and his nephews Danny Lawrence and Douglas Boisvert.
Armand is survived by his children, Lisa Boisvert Mackenzie and Mark Boisvert, his grandchildren Angus and Duncan Boisvert Mackenzie, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Calling hours will be Wednesday May 24 from 4 to 7 p.m. at McHugh Funeral Home on 283 Hanover Street, corner of Beech Street in Manchester.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Thursday May 25 at Saint Elizabeth Seton Church in Bedford. Burial will follow at the New Hampshire Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen.
