Charlie was born in Manchester on July 23, 1952, the youngest child of George and Helen (Flathers) Knight. He attended Manchester Central High School and it was there that he met the love of his life, Sandra “sandy” Lekas. Their marriage was the epitome of friendship and love. They spent 47 wonderful years together and were completely devoted to one another. Their life was full of laughter, joy, and trips around New England in search of the most delicious food they could find. Charlie was endlessly devoted to Sandy and cared for her lovingly until the end of her life.
Charlie worked as a mechanic at East Side Auto on Hanover Street for over 30 years. He was known for his skill, honesty, dedication and he took pride in doing the job right. At one point, he was even voted “Best Mechanic” in the city by the readers of the Hippo Press.
Charlie and Sandy didn’t have any children of their own. Instead, they focused on becoming one of the greatest uncle and aunt pair the world has ever known.
Charlie was pre-deceased by his parents and his sisters, Ellen Labrie and Patty Nelson. He is survived by his brother George Knight and his wife Patty Knight along with his brother in law and sister in law Marc and Valerie Doucet whom he lived with as his caregivers.
