Donald J. Turgeon

Donald J. Turgeon, 81, of Manchester, died August 31, 2017 at his residence after a short illness. He was born in Manchester on November 14, 1935 the son of Napoleon and Ilova (Brouillette) Turgeon and was a lifelong resident of the Queen City. He was educated in the local school system and was a graduate of Central High School.

He was a proud veteran of the US Army National Guard and US Navy serving his active duty at Quonset Point, Rhode Island and also serving in the US Naval Reserves. Don was a craftman and following his discharge he was employed as machinist and die maker at the Foster Grant Co. , Hussey Molding Co. and Cushcraft Corp. Together with his wife and best friend, Yvonne, he spent many years in their RV exploring the United States from coast to coast. He also enjoyed getting together with family and friends and will be fondly remembered as a loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend.

Members of his family include the love of his life, his wife of 57 years Yvonne (Gagne) Turgeon, his daughter Lina Fecteau and her husband David and his two sons Paul Turgeon and his wife Suzanne and Jean Turgeon and his wife Eva all of Manchester, his grandchildren Jennifer, Amanda, Shaun, Michael, Christopher, Jonathan, Aaron, Jaime and “G”, his great-grandchildren Tyler, Olivia, Matthew, Charlotte, Braiden, Reagan, Griffin, Cailyn, Madison and Natalie and his sister Pauline Turgeon also of Manchester as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He is predeceased by his parents, Napolean and Ilova and his half-brothers Lionel and Wilfrid.

Visitation was held on Thursday September 7 from 4 to 7 pm at the McHugh Funeral Home 283 Hanover St. corner of Beech St. in Manchester. A Memorial Mass was celebrated on Friday September 8 at 9:30 am in St. Pius X Church 575 Candia Rd. Manchester. Inurnment with military honors followed at 11:30 am at the NH State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations in Don’s name be made to Hope for NH Recovery 293 Wilson St. Manchester, NH 03103 or to Catholic Charities NH 215 Myrtle St. Manchester, NH 03104.
